Yellow Swan Logo Photographers' Statement

I got my first camera somewhere around the age of six. It was a Kodak Instamatic 134. It took 126 film and square photos. I immediately tried to take my first landscape photo. I was also immediately disappointed when the photo that came back. The little river running in the distance looked nothing like the large one in front of me when I took the image. Fast forward 24 years or so. I still have that little camera, but now it is for sentimental reasons. Today, I use a Canon 30D digital camera to get the photos I wanted to take when I was six. My camera takes me to places I would never have decided to go otherwise. Like most people I take my camera on vacation, but unlike most my vacations take me up the sides of mountains, up rivers, and through deserts. Photography helps me explore the world I live in and that's why I love it.

- Eric.

A picture is a memory for me to remember ... I look at the pictures when it is 20 below zero & remember ... I remember what the weather was like, what it smelled like, how the light looked. And it almost takes me back ... I want to photograph things that most people can't see ... they can't reach that peak or make the hike ... they can't drive to it or fly to it ... but they can see it by looking at my picture.

- Robin
